Instant Chat?

Would implementing an instant chat function be difficult or expensive? It would be really great to have a way to chat with other forum go-ers about various topics!

I think I'd like to do something like Facebook chat, where it's always accessible from any OWF page (but disable-able if you don't like it). Fuck knows how difficult that would be to implement, though.
