So I'm not entirely sure about what I want to do with this game. I've never played the original Thief series but I'm told it was the 'pinacle' of stealth and sneak gaming at its time. Old Thief players seem to be very excited about the reboot so I'm looking into getting it.

It's currently on pre-order on Steam with a 10% discount. It will probably be on a much higher sale during the Steam Summer Sale in a few months. What do? Anyone have opinions on this game?

I think I'll get it, seems like a solid game that borrows a lot from Dishonored and I don't mind that at all.

If it's even half as good as the original series, the game will be worth every penny/pence/yen/whatever your smallest currency is. I plan on trying to get it, despite trying to save up for an apartment right now. Everything about the old games were great. The combat felt just right, the atmosphere was next to perfect, and most importantly, the sneaking mechanics were better than I would expect from a stealth game. There hasn't been another FPS stealth game better than it IMO. Something to be advised about though, so far, the Thief games have been linear, so don't expect some open world stuff.

joking. even if i did, i wouldn't be able to play it anyway. too high-end for my old 'puter. to be honest i didn't even know Thief was still alive.

the Thief game editor/builder was fucking addictive, similar to TES Construction Set, only somehow less complicated.

I actually played a bit of it earlier this week and I found it quite entertaining after I had switched on all the 'hardcore' options (HUD is almost non-existent, no highlighted objects, no waypoints etc.). The guard AI seems to be a bit strange at times though.
