Exam Horror

It's the worst time of the year again for every student.

So here's a nice, friendly thread for you to post your exams, the highs, the lows, your advice, your worries, for people to say "good luck" and you to vent off your emotions before you collapse mentally.

Keep it clean chaps

Personally I'm facing EIGHT EXAMS IN TWO DAYS starting this afternoon with three Psychology exams one right after another, each an hour long and each consisting of writing 4 hard (but short) essays and 2 incredibly hard (and looooong) essays.

I don't think I've got it as bad as you, I have science, maths, english and society and enviroment exams next week. Every subject has two parts. I'm studying like mad, I'm pretty relaxed about the english and S+E exams, but I'm not too good at maths and I think I'll do good in the science exam (well the physics part anyway). I just want to get them right.

I've got Biology, Geography and Further Maths exams approaching. I've already taken my British Sign Language Stage 1 exam a second time, and am healthily expecting a fail.

Now if only there were a cure for procrastination…

I had an American History through 1877 exam a few weeks ago that dropped my grade in the course from a high A to a B+. Granted, I didn't study for it, but not out of laziness; I had (final) art projects that deserved far more attention than America's depressing history.

I know the old adage "those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it," but honestly, American history is not that important to me. I just really really do not want to learn anything about it. So much superfluous information. All anyone needs to know is that we stole blacks and killed the Native Americans.

American Liberal Arts colleges should make World History mandatory, instead of American. It might make up for America's piss-poor understanding of other countries.

I'm only having two exams (both written and spoken) of the choosen subjects (Computer Science and German).

Then again, I'm also going to have a few tests in the upcoming weeks. Maths will be a tough one, it'll have everything we learned this year: statistics, odds etc.

Had an Astronomy and a History test last week, the first turned out good, but the latter... well, not really. And it was World War I, which I found more interesting than Hungarian history.

Ha..

I just started my semester two days ago so I have a while to go before finals but I am getting nervous about having work, homework and parenting all at once.

I am sure by the end of the semester I will be ready to pull my hair out. LOL

I agree with Max the Mug. There should be a cure for procrastination. I don't have exams but have a marketing plan and research report and a presentation to do by next thursday. Worth 50% of the mark. Trying to start I guess. Oh yeh and am currently working on two advertising campaigns for another teacher and international trade assignments for another. On top of that I have work experience for a Media buying company this week.

But seriously guys dont stress, cruise through life.

What does a spoken Computer Science exam consist of? :confuzzled:

The true horror of exams hit me today. I'm on study leave, which means I can stay at home and do squat. However, I had to make an appearance to hand in a few forms about end-of-school balls, dinners, concerts, etc. I was intercepted by my geography teacher who told me my exam was in the sports hall.

“Huh?” I replied.

So it turned out I was entered for an exam, but wasn't told when it was. I did know I was doing it sometime, so it was probably my responsibility to have found out a long time ago. Still, no revision + appearing 20 minutes late != happy student.

Ouch, that's none to nice Max! I suppose you can be glad you went in that day at all though and at least got a chance at it.

I've got this week off for school holiday and then 3 on the sixth and 2 on the eighth... or was it 2 on the sixth and...

Uh... *runs off to check*

I've got exams coming up in a week or so. Our results in them will affect how our GCSE choices will pan out, so they're quite important. We kick it off with the big one-English writing, a 2 hour plus exam. And half of it is lovely lovely Shakespeare. Hooray.

I've always considered Shakespeare to have the worst grasp of the English language I've ever seen in an author.

And the really controversial bit is that I'm not joking.

I just had my maths exam today and it turned out ok. I was so relieved. Now I've got an english one tomorrow but I'm not too worried about it, except that we're not aloud to have our To Kill A Mockingbird books (one of the tests is an essay on the book) and we have to memorise the quotes but we don't know the question. Makes things a little bit harder...

Well his advantage is that when he got bored, he could just make up a word and it would be included into the lexicon immediately. For eg: lackluster, epileptic, puking and rant. And, depending who's counting 1700 to 2000+ other words.

I suppose. I am a supporter of many protologisms, so I can't criticise him for that. Nor can I for his spelling, as there was no standardised spelling at the time. Still, some damn translations into modern English might go some way to him getting my appreciation vote.

I just took a Statistics exam. This is interesting- I struggled with it all through the year (in no small part due to the fact that I lost my textbook for most of it. Looking up tabulated values without a table is hard work, let me tell you). With days to go, having found the book I studied like I'd never studied before, understood everything, and (I hope) aced the test. Now a year's worth of work I learned in three days will never be needed by myself ever again. This I feel is symbolic of examinations throughout the world.

Ah, Statistics. Easiest math I've ever taken.

Because everything had pictures, naturally. I'm a very visual learner. Give me a chart, I'll figure stuff out. Give me a Calculus test, I'll fail it. Hell, give me a standard Algebra I test and I probably won't do so hot on it.

And actually, I was surprised how relevant Statistics is to... well... everything. Who knows? You might end up using it again.

All I know is that it really increased my understanding on how unbelievably easy it is to fabricate "real" statistics.

Wait a minute! I saw no pictures! None! Nada!

This is the one with probability, binomial distribution, standard deviation, regression curves, product moment correlation coefficients, polulation samples and the normal distribution.

This was an A2 exam (the final ones before university). What are you talking about?

Those are pretty much all of the same things I had. The class I took was a college-level American course, which is probably about the same difficulty as your pre-university class, given America's poor education system.

So you guys didn't use charts? No histograms or bar charts or anything? Surely you drew out the normal curves. That's what really helped me solve a lot of problems. You know, actually drawing and looking at what I was supposed to be solving.

Finally, I can vent in the forum.

SEVEN FRIGGIN EXAMS IN TWO DAYS!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is about the only time i've been able to get on from the insane amount of studying i've had to do.

History exam (100 questions from 8 huuuuge sections)

Math exam (# of questions still not known, spanning the entire text book)

English exam (# of questions still not known, spanning stories we've read, including Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry)

Science Exam (# of questions still not known, spanning who-knows-howm-many sections)

Orchestra Exam (basically playing all our songs)

Drama Exam (Our Broadway night)

PE Exam (# of questions still not known, is on sports we've played the whole year, including rules, ect. And then the finaly 1 1/2 mile we have to run)

And this is just Jr. High.

I might seem to be exagerating to you guys, but thats kinda bad for me.
