Some would say it isn't. I say it is. And the beta stage is rapidly approaching. If you're going to buy it, buy it now, while the 50% off is there.

I'd say it is worth a try. It's not an extremely costly game anyway. I've purchased it some weeks ago; in the first few days, I played it quite a lot, then not as much, although it's still neat to start up MC if I only want to relax a bit. Then I get swarmed by Creepers and Zombies in a dark cavern, and barely manage to crawl back to one of my shelters, and then decide to relax somewhere else.

Pictures.

The prime waterside shelter, now functioning as a boathouse that's connected to the house you can see above it (it was still under construction back then).

A rather dark image of the Waterside Highway, complete with a stone bridge and a lit pathway all the way up to that lighthouse on the cliff (not as effective as I originally imagined, but it's still kinda cool).

It was torches up 'till now, but fire works loads better. Perchance you have a lighthouse yourself?

No, I've just read about the lighting system, and which things create the most light. Lava is brilliant, it's almost as bright as daylight. We should totally swap worlds some time.

Now I have in my mind the image of a giant glass orb full of lava on top of a tower. I really hope glass is not flamable in the game. Pictures are granted if I manage to pull this off.

Oh yeah, and I made myself a custom skin too, รก la OddTour4A.

I am busy turning a mountain into my theme park.

I already have a two story house, deep mineshaft, hidden escape tunnels and a natural stairway to the peak.

That's quite a bit of landmass you got there, Spandex. I wasn't so lucky, but I get by.

There's the house in the upper part, under it is the Lava Orb Tower I'm currently working on, then there's the Waterside Highway going from the house through a smaller lookout tower up to the lighthouse I posted a picture about last time.

Just imagine the time when the multiplayer Survival mode becomes available proper... We need a server.

Sort of, though direct control of the boat is required. Note that waterfalls buggily allow boats to skyrocket.

Daaaamn. I recently bought this, and it's bloody brilliant.

I'm on my third world already (the first was dumb, and the second is for a project I'm slowly working on: a world high in the sky, with hills and streams and forests and all lit up with torches...).

In my current one, I've dug into a hill on the border between a desert and some grassy hills. I haven't done much yet - got a couple of trees growing, some reeds/bamboo, a line of cacti, and some Jack-o-Lanterns that were already present - but I'm going to stockpile blocks and then make something. I know the way to a nice big lava waterfall, too, if I want to make a lighthouse - and of course there's plenty of sand around to make glass - does lava affect that?

The only trouble is, my respawn point is aages away from my house. I just found a page on changing your spawnpoint, and it looks like I need to install some program and manually change it, which sucks. I'm not sure if I will though - it makes me more concerned about dying if I have to walk for five minutes to get home again.

I recommend using MCedit to manually move your spawnpoint if it's that inconvenient. Basically you want to be able to make a mad dash for all the equipment you dropped when you died. I have sometimes used MCedit to temporarily remove sections of the landscape, like when I was building an underwater ice tunnel in a snow landscape, but I went under an overhang that sheltered the water beneath from icing over.

Fuck! I found a bug!

It's really neat; if you shut down your computer while Minecraft is running, you actually LOSE the current world! Haha! Now that it's happened to me twice, though, I'll probably be more careful.

So for a while I've just been starting new worlds, deleting, and starting again until I find a nice place. I could just explore one, but this will save me changing my spawnpoint. I'm in a promising one now, with an awesome cave system near to the spawnpoint (with several waterfalls in it! It's so cool!).

There's another bug too (but it's a cool one). If an iced-over pool is only one tile deep, you can dig under the ice and there's no water there. This rocks lots, but you can't place torches because they melt it. I'm thinking of looking for a big pool and digging very deep to see if the torches don't melt the ice when they're several tiles beneath it.

I built a nice lookout tower which is my current house, protected from enemies.
I've pretty much accomplished my initial goal to make one of each tool (for gold and diamond). I also have 5 saddles, both the green and yellow vinyl records.

My tip is to dig right down to bedrock and then dig horizontally. You'll usually find some lava chasms. Not only are the lava chasms usually in large empty spaces, you'll find a lot of ores along the walls. Always dig out the dirt/gravel on the lower levels, you'll find some good stuff.

I took lots of minecraft pictures. Here are some of my favourites.
The one with the spider was a split second before I died :P
That picture of the diamonds was where I replaced the graphics of granite with diamonds. My friend thought it was pretty funny. Also... Snake - Big Boss skin!

Escaping from enemies at night is the most easy thing ever. You always start on a beach, so the first thing to do is to collect about ten blocks of sand. Then, when night falls, aim straight down and build a tower of sand beneath you. In the morning, mine it all up again.

I often use twenty-forty blocks of sand or dirt for this, but ten is enough. In fact, five probably is - just so long as you're far enough away from the ground that Creepers won't blow you up.
