I love your names Nate....
I actually love the name "Nathan/Natan"... I think "Nate" sounds very strong and masculine but also suits all ages from a baby to a very old man... and thats important... but mostly I imagine a tall, tanned, dark haired blue eyed, 22 year old Australian surfer... with lots of chest hair... *ahem* Anyhoo...
Also "Finlay" (this is a new addition my current bloke has a Scottish surname and it fits perfectly... I love my boyf... so it figures I'm thinking of our prospective kids) "Fin" for short... again very masculine and traditional. Also "Cameron" for the same reason!
Then there are the usual suspects.. "Daniel" "Marc" "Jonathan" etc etc
But NOT "Damian" "Conner" "Jason" "Gavin" basically any Charver (trailer trash) names! On teaching practice I taught far to many little s**theads Christened with those!
As for girls... My boyfriend loves the idea of "Sasha" (which incidentally is what his parents wanted to call him originally!!!!!! They're of European descent!) I keep telling him its a man's name but he won't have it as he doesn't want to inflict it on any son of his after his narrow escape!
I tend to go for the original traditional girls' names... "Jennifer" "Rebecca" (thats my sis's name so that would be a tad weird though!) "Charlotte" "Abbi (gayle)" etc etc etc...
But one thing I do know... I WILL NOT name any child of mine with a monosyllabic name like Claire or John... you miss out on essential family/friend/lover terms of endearment (by shortening your name).... I so missed out on that!
