Pretty cinematics are easily achievable by anyone with enough money. They're completely irrelevant if the writing is trash.

This is true. Case in point, Soulstorm has glitched out so badly for me it's physically impossible to complete the game now unless I delete all my progress and start from scratch. I didn't enjoy the game enough to do that so I will likely not finish Soulstorm unless they patch a fix in.
I decided to just watch all the cut-scenes instead so that I could see how the game ended and although they look gorgeous, they lack good writing and often they're not very eventful. Nothing really
happened in the Soulstorm Brewery. It isn't unfeasible that the Glukkons could just dump the cure and start pumping out the original brew recipe again. There's no infrastructure destruction.
