♪ Music V5.0 ♫

Retired: Version 4

Traditional 50-page expiry and replacement. On 1500 posts, too.

New thread, new music. Not the sort of stuff I'm normally interested in, but quite liking this.

EDIT: Oh yeah, not recommended to people with a history of epilepsy or having eyes.

Dynamithix 10-21-2011 12:34 PM

Let's kick the thread off with some Crystal Castles.

Might as well put another one.

STM 10-21-2011 12:53 PM

I would just like to express my joy at finishing V4 with the best song in the entire thread bar some of the metal stuff... ;)

OddjobAbe 10-21-2011 12:58 PM

Vliet had the best voice.

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 02:58 PM

Kalafina are my new favourite band.

Ridg3 10-21-2011 03:18 PM

As much as I don't like Japanese music, I liked that. I think it was because it was female vocals as opposed to the nasal sounding males.

I could very easily change that, you know. :P

Epic orchestral goodness for you.

STM 10-21-2011 03:29 PM

Somewhat befitting,

I do like Middle Eastern Metal.

Still in the arabic theme: I love this guys work.

Got me into phrygian and arabic scales. Oh how wonderful a drop D is on a good guitar.

Ridg3 10-22-2011 02:11 PM

Screw your Phrygian scales. I'm sticking with Aeolian because it's easier. Speaking of Aeolian scales, how about some neo-classical guitar?

STM 10-22-2011 02:25 PM

I wouldn't say Phrygian is hard, you just gotta memorise the pattern maaan.

JennyGenesis 10-22-2011 04:00 PM

For Dynamithix

Dynamithix 10-22-2011 04:19 PM

Oddworld and dubstep don't mix at all.

JennyGenesis 10-22-2011 04:21 PM

Dubstep shouldn't mix with existence.

Dynamithix 10-22-2011 04:22 PM

Is this the part where I'm supposed to post the "Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man" clip again?

Phylum 10-22-2011 05:41 PM

No, it's the part where you're supposed to accept that you're wrong and go listen to good music.

I've been listening to Why Do Birds Sing? a bit lately.

JennyGenesis 10-22-2011 07:35 PM

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?

No, it's the part where you're supposed to accept that you're wrong and go listen to good music.

How 'bout I listen to what I want to and you can keep listening to whatever you listen to. Just to annoy you people, I'll post this.

Phylum 10-23-2011 01:22 AM

I made that post in jest, although it doesn't sound like it now that I read it again.

Quite frankly I have no views on your musical tastes because I've never listened to anything you've ever posted in here.

Dynamithix 10-23-2011 01:31 AM

Give Crystal Castles a go. They're good.

Phylum 10-23-2011 01:46 AM

Bare in mind that I usually listen to stuff like this.

Dynamithix 10-23-2011 02:09 AM

I find it strange that so many people like only one or two genres of music. I listen to a variety of stuff. Except metal. Can't enjoy it.

Phylum 10-23-2011 02:11 AM

I don't only like one genre of music. In fact I'm surprisingly open minded for a classical nerd. I just don't listen to lots of stuff at the moment.

Dynamithix 10-23-2011 02:13 AM

I didn't mean to insult you or anything if that's what you thought.

MeechMunchie 10-23-2011 03:56 AM

I listen to a lot of comedy music, which gives me a bit of an entrance point into other genres. I start with parodies, maybe check out some light stuff, then work my way in.

Ridg3 10-23-2011 08:09 AM

My main genre I like listening to is metal, because it is such a diverse genre. But I also listen to D&B, Electronica, little bits of punk and hardcore, acoustic and bits of others. But whenever I do listen to these other genres I only listen to the entry level of the genre, I wouldn't delve into it as religiously as I would metal.

MeechMunchie 10-23-2011 11:03 AM

Does anyone here listen to My Morning Jacket? I'm enjoying what I've listened to so far on YouTube, are there any recommendations anyone could give me?

Ridg3 10-23-2011 03:00 PM

I wonder, Mr Bungle/Hobo (if he still frequents,) if you ever heard Juular on acoustic before. It works strangely. Also, best guitar solo ever on Life.

Also, maybe a demo from Epicloud? I'm not too sure but hot diggidy it sure as hell sounds good. It sounds very 'poppy' compared to the rest of his work. But I'm damn sure not complaining.
