Might be worth mentioning its for AE PC and needs that Ddraw.dll hook otherwise it just crashes

Looks really cool. I don't get it though -- do you need a french sound.dat file to be able to play the levels properly? If so you should include that in your download. I can't wait to check it out.

it is very easy to get any version of the game for the french sound.dat. For any custom map of a game, you have to learn how to create and how to play it.

The idea and the screenshots looked very promising so I decided to try the mod. I *think* I have finished it, the game doesn't let me go through the final door
https://images-2.discordapp.net/.eJw...fNsyHTYtNE.png The mod is in a dire need of some polish, there are multiple ledges that look like you could grab them by simply hoisting up, but they require run-jump for some reason. The ledges itself aren't perfectly aligned to the steps and you can easily fall in a few places, because you thought you wouldn't fall if you make another step. On the very second screen you're supposed to drop from a ledge and fall through a distance that'd normally kill Abe but it's scripted not to. The game doesn't really offer much challenge. It's generally easier than AE, which is not a good thing, since nearly all of the people who'd want to play the mod have finished AE already. There's a slig-lock that requires a slig to say a certain phrase to progress. The problem is that the phrase is just pressing the same button three times. I don't really see the reason to include this, then :P The levels look mostly very, very empty, even despite the pretty photoshopped backgrounds. They miss gameplay objects. About 90% of the mod feels like that. The games like AE need puzzles, more action elements, and clever level design this mod unfortunately lacks. There are also many situations where you can enter an unwinnable state, and some of those could be easily avoided if it was designed just a bit better. Also, it's certainly not a good decision to not base your mod on the international version of the game. And to not include the note about the DLL. Nonetheless, if this is your first mod, it's still a good score. Most of the Oddworld mods I played were worse than that :) Graphics: 7+/10 Gameplay: 5/10 Challenge: 5/10 Fun: 6/10 Amount of polish: 1/10 |
I actually couldn't get a french copy of sounds.dat and gave up. The voice lock has to be cheated when you can't hear anything :P
Edit : I agree about more polish making this a lot better experience, but its much better than all of these "add 10000 more bombs and slig" mods. |

Thank you for your opinion on the level.
For the final door, saw that nothing had been expected after the door, you would have preferred to have a freeze because it led nowhere? A custom map is not necessarily made for ultra experienced players. Rather than my levels to be successful by everyone. I do not see how the platforms you bother. From the time I was talking to my customs maps, it was time I watch a little. In the game Abe's Exoddus 2, level with alf will be 3 additional levels. (Ender paramite, Scrab and Glukkon). It's been three months that I worked on this level but you must not realizing it because you do not create a level It makes sense to reach a pretty high ledge jumping while running than to jump up when Abe teleports. If I compare my level it would be one of the tunnel 1: Not much of a challenge In short, one hand I take evil but by someone who is quick to criticize it not so bad. |
Varrok : this mod has mostly been done to honor the original Alf's Escape DLC, not really for challenge. A funny and original kind of "retro-remake".
It's hard to criticize a mod that was created in 3 Months and ALONE. So in my opinion, it's a really great work. Beautiful, clean, no bug and fun to play ! :) |

I do not know if you noticed but my trailer is the same as that of alf's escape (new'n'tasty). My level has never been noted by eurogamer, NowGamer, escapist magazine, god is the geek and the show gadjet. The game does not count out on the 19/20 August ps4
