So I had a lil' contest on Tumblr to celebrate 100 followers, and this was the request of the person who got the first prize.
https://36.media.tumblr.com/46dbf545...1b8to1_500.png I drew 'em a Pre-Incident Gaster, https://41.media.tumblr.com/4c0bddbb...tu1ku8_540.png along with a cute icon. |
man i love your Undertale artwork, especially Gaster and the two Napstablook images. cool, good job!
|
I approve of anything Undertale, especially anything W.D.Gaster related.
|
Cute!

It is now even more amazing, because Fire magic dragon-like creatures (ifrits, satyrs, demons) are adored by me.
Could you create a Wind-element, Darkness-element and a Light-element version of this art to see what your imagination of it is like? Thank you in advance. |

The countdown has begun.
I shall draw the chibi version of you in my style then. It shall be very menacing, though. I tend to draw darkness a lot. |
:
|
By the way, what are your element and favourite weapon? I normally draw figures with attributes.
|
Dragons are actually super sexy so if you could draw some sexy dragons I would approve (y)
|
:
For my favorite weapon, its either a short sword or a baseball bat. :
|
Slog and Vyrien draw some sexy dragons. Go look in their threads.
|
So I drew you. It is pretty dirty, I wished to finish in an hour (I have a lot of tests tomorrow).
You look 35 years old here, male and the legs are really quickly patched... http://s8.postimg.org/49f40cxs5/20160405_001501.jpg I took your real look photo, your chibi drawing, added a fiery short sword and some space magic. |

It's disappointing to see most people in this thread singing your praises, it means you won't improve. It's not very good at all, and you seriously need to take this criticism on board because you're a very excusey artist and that's why you won't ever get good.
Observe everything. Seriously, just see everything properly, see how it works, notice shapes, notice patterns, light, perspective, just look at shit, and eventually you will learn how to draw. That's all you can do. |
There's constructive criticism and then there's being an arsehole though, Nep. Saying someone's art is "not very good at all", without providing examples of how to improve is a shitty thing to do. Everyone has to start from somewhere and everyone improves by practice and repetition. Think about your music, where you were years ago and where you are now. Now think about how much harder it would have been for you to continue if all you heard was "your music is not very good at all," and if lots of people said that to you then imagine how much quicker you would have progressed if their criticisms were actually constructive.
I'm not bashing you honestly. There's a time and a place to criticise and there's also a time and place to acknowledge that there are good aspects of most people's art. I mean, why not just say what you have to say in a PM to avoid putting someone down publicly. |
It's actual criticism, STM. A lot of people told me that my music was shit, and now it's good because I learned. If people just mindlessly praised my shit I would never improve. I actually progressed faster than most BECAUSE of how bad my music was at first.
There's being an arsehole and there's being honest. I'm being honest, and I was constructive as well. At this level all you can say is observe. There are no actual techniques here that need building upon because at the moment it's very amateur. If you want to be a good artist you have to deal with harshness and criticism because if you're constantly making excuses or getting insulted by it you won't improve, and I think Slog and Cass will back me up there. Why would I PM it? The whole point is that other people can see it and they can learn too. It's a very basic but important point I made. |
I pointed out that your criticism was not constructive precisely because "Observe everything. Seriously, just see everything properly, see how it works, notice shapes, notice patterns, light, perspective, just look at shit, and eventually you will learn how to draw." Is such a generic, bland statement to make that you could apply it to any piece of art. You have to provide specifics and go into detail when making a criticism.
I absolutely agree with you that it's a vital part of improving in any creative field, my writing has improved exponentially over time due to critique from different people. However, the critique was specifically called for and done in such a way that it didn't feel as if it was coming from the left field, without me asking for it. I would argue that anyone saying your music was shit is a dick, and I hope you remember that I myself personally championed your musical endeavours over the years that you've posted, to the point I can expressly remember instances where I defended you and your work from forum members whose mere criticism was "dubstep is shit, you're shit". I don't believe that this is a good way to help someone improve upon anything. I'd like to expand my point by saying that this isn't directed purely at you, Nep, but anyone advising or providing criticism on FC; if it wasn't expressly called for, better of keeping it to private messaging, OR making a specific thread about general improvements one could make to their art. That's a thread I'd check out myself for sure. To derail a person's thread with 'critique' as was done to Fennecfyre, I believe, is kinda annoying, although of course it comes from an inherently good place. Not that I'm complaining about seeing more of Cass' or Slogbait's art because damn that sum tasty creative shit. As I'm falling foul of my own argument I'll leave it there, but if you want to continue the conversation then PM me, I'm honestly not looking to cause an argument with you here dude, just trying to put a point across. Grim: Nep is right, although the way he put it was perhaps a little blunt. Your art does need work, however you can only improve with practice and I look forward to seeing what you churn out over the coming weeks and months. Pls do a Papyrus drawing when you get the chance, love me some sexy Papyrus. |
I have decided to draw you again and better and created a whole new thread for this (Xorlidyr draws OWF).
|
Guys, I know I NEED to improve. You're telling me the stuff I've known for years. The thing is, one can only improve so much at a time. Art blocks, college classes, and work all interfere with my improvement.
Now if you had seen my old work, you would've seen how much I've actually improved. The way the noses are in my more "realistic" (using that term VERY loosely) art, I only started drawing them that way in the middle of last year, right before I graduated high school. I have improved since then, since quite a few of these are older drawings. The newest ones on here are Gaster and Azazel. Once I finish coloring my 50 Fathoms character, Cass, and my spider-morph, Leon. I'll post them. |
:
STM I know it's a basic critique, but I've already said that it has to be at this point because of the stage she's at. |
:
|
Yes? But that's not all I said, is it? Fucking hell
|
GrimGadabout, notice me.
I am sorry, I drew you male the first time. |
