Pokemon General
I imagine we'll have a steady stream of news from now on. By all means, post in here with any rumours, hype or other assorted shit. We can also discuss other peokemon related things here, like how amazing Elesa is exactly when the pokemon designs went to shit. (Spoiler: They didn't.)
I'll start. http://i.imgur.com/WAQ7Yi7.jpg aaaaaaaaaaah burn it This little fellow will be haunting my dreams for the next few weeks. Nobody knows what type it is and people are already going crazy guessing. PS: Espeon => Glaceon >>> Flareon > Umbreon > Leafeon > Jolteon > Shit > Smelly shit > Modern Simpsons > Vaporeon. |
Glaceon is the best bro
|
I agree that Espeon is fantastic. I never liked Glaceon much personally, but it's better than lots of the other evolutionary paths.
Since when are Leafeon and Vaperion a thing? I mist have missed that generation. |
Vaporeon has been around since Gen 1.
also nice ranking. i like the inclusion of Modern Simpsons to emphasize on Vaporeon's shittiness. |
Apparently I mixed Vaperion and Glaceon up. That explains why I couldn't grasp why Joe ranked it so highly.
Vaporeon is still definitely better than at least Jolteon and Leafeon. |
Jolteon is one of my favourites for sure.
|
Jolteon has always been my favourite Eeveelution.
Ninfia doesn't even look like a fucking Eeveelution. Then again, neither does Espeon, really. It's probably either normal or flying type, based off it's appearance alone. And, just to make sure, this scan is 100% legitimate, right? Fakemon happen every generation, I need to be reassured it's real. Also, of the starters revealed so far, which do you guys think you will pick? I know for certain I'm snagging Froakie through my first playthrough whenever I finally have the money to pick up not only the game(s) but also a damn 3DS. |
I like Vaporeon. Glaceon in probably my favourite design-wise, but I'm not sure why they stopped giving Eveelutions ruffs after Gen 1. It was a pretty major design element.
As for the new pink one, I would agree that the airy, ribbon-dancer look means that it's probably Flying. I just want to see the Poison one already. I wouldn't say that the newer designs are "worse", but there's definitely been a shift, as handheld graphics have become higher resolution and with greater colour depth, to more "segmentation", smaller details and patterned surfaces. Compare. As for the game itself, I'd personally rather they stuck to higher-resolution animated sprites for another generation, and instead focused on making Pokemon act more individually; Actually moving when they use an attack, for instance, or at least trying to align existing attack effects with the sprite itself. Mud Shot is one of my favourite moves, not least because it still appears to be ejected from Marshtomp's crotch. The weirdest thing? Half a year ago I wouldn't have had an opinion on any of this. |
I HADNN'T SEEN THAT CORROCORRO LEAK YET
THIS MAKES ME HAPPY |
The only thing I have a 'gripe' with on the new eeveelution's design are the bow-like things, they look silly to me i dunno

Anyway, that pokemon looks rather....unintimidating? |
I cannot wait for this game. I always thought Pokemon needed to ditch 2D sprites and move on to 3D models. Now it's actually happening! I haven't been so excited for a Pokemon game since... well HG/SS actually. It looks absolutely amazing, the battles especially.
hopefully these games will make up for B/W and B/W2, I did like the games (not so much B/W2), it's just I thought it took itself too seriously. I don't want that in a Pokemon game, nobody does. I want retarded villains trying to take over the world, awesome looking Pokemon and interesting regions to explore. Also fuck N. I hated that guy. As for Eeveelutions, I love the Gen 1 and 2 ones. The new one looks pretty awful. Anyone know what Type it is? |
It's either flying or normal type.
|
Does it look normal to you? I mean look at it. :tard:

Unrelated, but is anybody else taking part in the BW2 Winter Friendly? |
So hey does anybody in this thread own or drive a vehicle?
|
Them's fightin words, Mac. No and yes. Vehicles are EXPENSIVE
Also god damn these speedy shits: http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...er-d5uqhw2.jpg |
fucking hell that's adorable
What do people think of the legendaries? Xerneas > Yveltal for me, yo. |
Yveltal > Xerneas. Design-wise, at least. Have their typings been announced yet?
|
All those Eevees just give me a headache. I keep one and then forget about the rest. The only games I completed the story in were Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Black. Both are great games. Good franchise as a whole but no way I'll ever get time to finish every single game. They make them too quickly!
|
This is probably the best place to ask this.
As someone who's never finished a pokemon game and hasn't even touched one in years where's a good place to start? My mum has a 3DS that I have regular access to, so should I pick up Black/White 1/2? Should I wait for these? Should I be a pirate and play an older one? |
You can really start anywhere. The problem is, if you haven't been following since the first couple of gens, you might find the later games a bit overwhelming. Mainly because there's just too much fucking stuff to remember if you want to do anything other than play casual.
I'd suggest grabbing Heart Gold/Soul Silver, or Black 1/White 1 since they're the most recent and I can assure you they're good. Try to avoid Diamond and Pearl like the plague. I haven't played Platinum, but I heard it was a significant improvement on Diamond/Pearl, and I haven't heard really anything about Black 2/White 2. I don't ever plan on getting B2/W2 either because it looked like it was just B1/W1 except with a different story and slightly altered region. When it comes to Pokemon, I have no interest in the story. You could wait for X/Y, but we have so little information on it right now there's no telling how good the final product is going to be. The first generation is complete shit, so I only suggest playing it if you just want to experience the originals. Oh, and as far as which version of the gen to pick, just look up the version exclusives. Most of the time the only differences are the Pokemon, but in B/W's case there are entire sections of the game that are different. E-Hahahaha pirating a pokemon game dude just go snag roms of every game up til gen 4 you can find them so easily |
Oh, I know. I've had a few of them on my computers at some point, but I think they were all lost in my last HDD death.
|
I've only played Emerald and White (both emulated - and hooray for fast forward), basically because Emerald was the one I wanted but never got when I was ten years old. I had no problems picking it up from Gen. 3 and moving straight on to 5.
|
Emerald is my favourite, but I guess that if you've at least played bits of the other games and are familiar with the mechanics and the different Pokemon it'd be fine to just start up the new one.

Indeed it was. I'm going to buy a Bort license plate to appreciate it.

Also I recommend you check out Gold/Silver/Crystal. or the remakes. Those games are in my opinion the best in the franchise and they gave me many happy hours when I was a kid :) E: And I've just realised Pokemon X/Y has broken the Pokemon Generation release formula. |
Yeah, I expect FR/LG are the best place to start, since you'll recognise all of the Pokemon.
|
HG/SS are clearly the best places to start. They're probably the best games too.
