They couldn't even give us a complete game?
So if what i am hearing is true Soulstrom is more Soulstrom part 1: Give us all your money, they have to be fucking with us even after YEARS of delays they can't even give people a completed game with a start, middle and finish. Hell Exodus was over 2 fucking disks on the PS1 and they managed it and not to Mention at least New 'ND Tasty was a complete game do the Devs really think people are going to he happy to get to the end of Soulstorm and find out they need to buy a second game?
|
It's almost like they're trying to create some sort of 'series' of games. Or something.
|
I mean your Intel is off. It has a clear beginning middle and end and wraps up the main plot line just like Exoddus did. It's also much longer than Exoddus. The difference is that Soulstorm teases the plot of the next game heavily at the end and has lingering mysteries to be explained down the line.

:
Speaking of my opinion of the story, I like it except for one thing. Morguer and Aslik's characters seem under-developed. They feel like bleak forever-middle-class managers devoid of ambition, not top-brass career sharks. Maybe it actually was the intent though. I'm not completely sure. However their character design is quite awesome, I must say. |
so the abridged version is its another cyberpunk situation where no matter how good the final product is, people will still whine?
|
:
Except that's not different from Exoddus because it did the same thing. Just turned out the next game was bollocks and the tease was irrelevant. |
:
But Soulstorm specifically teases upcoming plot more directly. As more of a plot cliffhanger. Exoddus has like a text tease if you save all the Muds I think but that doesn't really count as its not really a aprt of the narrative. |
Soulstorm's ending is pretty much a tease for the next game and honestly has me pretty excited for whatever could be coming next! It's a plot point that has been teased for so long so it's nice to see that they're finally going to tackle it head-on.

I think in general it's pretty interesting seeing the cynicism surrounding Soulstorm. I'm not as harsh on it as others but I won't lie a lot of the disappointment feels justified. If there ever is a next game (and I really hope there is a next game) I really hope they actually get it together and deliver something that can stand up. I'll say one thing, they've got a good thing going with the cutscenes, the cinematics are easily the best part of Soulstorm. I think this series has too much untapped potential to just die right when it was getting started again. |
Pretty cinematics are easily achievable by anyone with enough money. They're completely irrelevant if the writing is trash.
|
:
I decided to just watch all the cut-scenes instead so that I could see how the game ended and although they look gorgeous, they lack good writing and often they're not very eventful. Nothing really happened in the Soulstorm Brewery. It isn't unfeasible that the Glukkons could just dump the cure and start pumping out the original brew recipe again. There's no infrastructure destruction. |
yeah at the time this first came out i didn't feel like it was worth spending fucking forty quid for a game i would probably play once and that's it, because i'm a dirty poor person. so i just waited. at this stage though after seeing what people have to say about it i don't think i'm going to bother with it at all, especially not if it's all buggy and shit.
so yeah, fuck that unfortunately. weirdly i'm not really bothered because i'm not as closely attached to oddworld as i was as a kid, for me the series is just a nostalgic 'happy place' where i have memories of playing as a child thinking the game was much bigger than it is, before everything went to shit and they went dormant for years. but it would've been nice to get a decent new game out of it. oh well. woulda been nice. |
Can someone delete my account please

No.

Oh, damn. By not deleting his account, you've just doomed MeechPacker to have all his embarrassing posts immortalized. All eight of them, including (and limited to):
- Asking to remove his account (in two) - Saying hello (in one) - Looking forward to Citizen Siege - Asking what character he could use in the roleplay section - Participating in the Oddworld roleplay in a friendly way (in three) |

to be fair, this is pretty embarrassing. |

MeechPacker for global admin. I'll take the shirt off any man's back who disagrees.
|
But what if he deletes his own account when given admin rights allowing him to do so?
|
It's been a long time since I posted here, can't even remember when. I just saw some Soulstorm gameplay footage and thought - hey, I used to post in Oddworld Forums and annoy everyone there. Anyway ontopic - will this game ever come out on PC outside of epicgames?
|
Apparently not, I've heard that it's going to be EPIC exclusive forever and ever amen.
|
how disappointing...
