There's nothing particularly good about Rayman 2. It's really average. The platforming is mostly good albiet clunky at times, but the combat aspects are just awful.
Rayman 3 is better then Rayman 2, I'm glad someone agrees.
Also I'm up for Half-Life 2, even though I played though it not too long ago. |
Maybe now is the time for everyone to stop suggesting more games to play
I’ll probably be late getting into this first round, as I’m too broke to go and buy any games right now. Could probably jump in a week or two down the line though. e: I have made a table of all the games mentioned so far in the thread:
I'd play either Rayman 2 or 3.
And, if to believe internet reviews, Rayman 2 is far higher than average: http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.h...numrev=3&site= |
I wasn't suggesting that we play inFamous I just asked if anyone wanted it because Mac Sirloin mentioned game sharing, I wouldn't suggest an exclusive game. But I agree, no more suggestions, sounds like we're doing BG&E unless we get more votes for RE4.
Guess this died on its feet, then. :( That's a shame, it would've been a good idea if people were more agreeable.
Yaris was a joke. Also, you can't even get it anymore.
Maybe there should be a pole for these games.
C&C TFD is a package which comes with multiple games (in the same way as the Oddboxx). Some people may not have all of the games included in C&C TFD. Would someone have to create an option for each game? |
TFD has really shit compatibility with Win 7 64bit. It probably doesn't work with 32bit, either.
We're doing Beyond Good and evil. I'm having some money troubles so everyone who has it should start by Friday, 2 week span. Sound good?
So like, are we going by a certain limit in the game? Or just try to beat the whole danged thing?
I hope you're not saying that you can't beat BG&E within two weeks.
Yeah, is it going to be like a kids' book club? "Okay, go home and play Levels 1-4 tonight, come back with some interesting opinions".
The best format would probably be “you have between [date X] and [date Y] to play the game, post about stuff you find interesting in the meantime”.
Play as much as you'd like. Hell, beat it in one sitting if you feel motorvated enough. It's not a contest, but we'll see who beat it the fastest, who has the most collectables, etc...
The point is, play it for 2 weeks. Just play. Replay parts you like. Just fuckin' go for it. Oh and eventually we're playing through the entire Xenosaga series (including Xenogears) at a limit of 2 weeks. This is a complicated way of saying 'Fuck you and everything else you'd like to do' |
Oh yeah, last week I spent a long time researching how to fix the following problem:
Thanks to crappy DRM that doesn't work with Windows 7, I can't play BG&E anymore unless I want to pay £5 to buy it again. :( This also sucks 'cause my BG&E discs, signed by Michael Ancel & Christopher Heral at Video Games Live 2006, are now useless. Oh well, guess I'll be stumping up £5 and caning my bandwidth... Making it the third time I've bought the game (second time was a gift for someone). Bah. It is a good game, I just resent having to stump up more cash for something I already own if I want to re-play it. DRM is a very bad thing and screws over customers more than it does pirates. |

This. Exactly this. |
++INSTALLING...++
:
You just need to download a few patches. |
I had trouble running the patch installers on Win7 64. One turned out to open with 7-Zip, but just copying and replacing files broke my install of the game.
I think I'm going to uninstall everything, patch TFD and try again. |

So, are we decided on Beyond Good and Evil? Because I just noticed that Beyond Good and Evil HD is on Live Arcade for 800 points. I've never played it, but if it's really that good then I will buy it, and join in.
I think most people are pretty far in by now. I'd say it's fairly good so far. Not amazing, but certainly above average.
I will start playing after I get my 360 repaired sometime later this week. I'm pretty positive I already bought it about a year ago.
Has anyone recommended Psychonauts? Because we should definitely do that at some point.
I'll recommend that, but I won't play it on account of having already played it a couple of months ago. I mean, it's replayable, but not that replayable. If there was ever a game that needed a New Game+...
It's one of the few games that I would definitely call that replayable. I don't think I found every little easter egg or heard every line of dialogue until my tenth play through.
Maybe so, but how close together were those replays?
I've already played it twice. First time for 100% completion, second for 101% + every item/character combination + every baconable game stage. But you haven't actually seen everything until you cheat to get all Psi powers at the beginning, so you can see Elton's Clairvoyance and hear what G-Men say when they get confused etc. And confusing Boyd before you cure him is funny. Anyway, my point is I'm not saying there isn't 4+ playthroughs' worth of stuff there, it's just that completing the same game twice in a couple of months is silly. I rarely play through the same game twice in a year. |
I've done all that too. God, I love that fucking game.
I actually started playing it again yesterday. |
Okay, I've finished Beyond Good & Evil, 100% for pearls and photos.
I liked: The music (Propa-ganda...) The DomZ design The photography element, and the way your photos get used in the reports Shooting A-S air tanks The name Pey'j (it sounds like something a pig would call themselves) Flying the Beluga Peepers (I like cool guys with big noses) That nice walrus fellow The endings (both of them), in a sort of hilariously cack-handed way. I didn't like: The controls (unhook and grab seemed randomly interchangeable) The camera angles (seriously screwy, especially the way they change) The level design (dull) The fact that they wouldn't let Pey'j stay dead The creepy jokes about eating pork WITH A SAPIENT PIG The whole "botched port" feeling It was okay, better than most, but certainly not as good as I had been led to believe. EDIT: Oh, and I really liked: That disc-flinging mini-game. They should make that shit fo' realz. |
