So I wandered blearily downstairs yesterday morning in my PJs and was very surprised to see STM sitting on my couch. It took some time for me to understand that it wasn't our STM, rather it was some vicious doppelgänger who recently moved into the area who my brother knows. I keep calling him Aiden.

The Rock from Dystopia.

A very old friend of mine- so old that our first childhood meeting is lost in the haze of early neurological development, came to visit today. I hadn't seen him for the past year and a half, since he went to China to teach English. He brought his Chinese fiancée with him. She's pretty clued up about the whole Communist dictatorship thing, and from what I heard from her I have had to cross my fingers that when the time comes she actually gets back here before she is "invited to tea with the police"...

Old photos

You know, whenever I find an old photo of myself as a kid, I can't help but think to myself, "I still wear that t-shirt!"

That is all.

Christmas anti-miracle.

My house flooded this morning. The river broke its banks, and currently flowing freely through the neighbourhood and my living room. Worst weather ever. Zero stars. Would not buy again.

Trip to Leicester

Posted 12-18-2013 at 08:55 PM by Bullet Magnet
Updated 12-18-2013 at 10:29 PM by Bullet Magnet
I went to Leicester last weekend to see by brother. It was his girlfriend's birthday, and according to her he is improved when I'm around to riff off of each other.

It's a four hour drive, and my first solo trip up there. Six hours for me, I spent two hours lost in Leicester. City's a labyrinth, I tell you. I was especially annoyed to discover I'd driven past his place three times before I figured out what was what.

Arriving at midnight we spent three hours playing...

Loss

Posted 10-16-2013 at 09:07 PM by Bullet Magnet
This was part of an e-mail I sent to a friend, but it seemed worth publishing. You don't need to say anything, all platitudes are worthless, no words can actually help, so don't worry about trying to think of something to say. You can listen, though. That helps.

My Granddad died on Saturday. He's the first person I've lost. I feel out of sorts as a result. I haven't cried, or really changed my routine that much. Or anything really. It wasn't a surprise, he was really ill, and by the...

Not sure how to deal with this.

Posted 04-27-2013 at 06:47 PM by Bullet Magnet
It's 3:47 am. I'm in bed, in my jammies, blogging because it's all I can think to do. My bed is covered in shit. My room is covered in shit. There's a wild pigeon in here looking at me. I only just noticed this. I am too tired to chase it around right now, and I know that if I try it's just going to shit all over everything even more. The way the windows work it won't get out by itself. I just want to go back to sleep and deal with this in the morning, except that it is in my bedroom with me RIGHT...

If these 20 money saving tips for bankers is anything to go by, they're still not living in the real world.

WARNING: do not click link unless you are prepared to be sickened.

As one commenter put it, this is either satire or exhibit A at the inevitable public trial.

As another put it:

Mon Dieu! It is like the French Revolution never happened!

My First Inquisitor

Posted 01-25-2013 at 03:49 PM by Bullet Magnet
After many years of failed persuasion attempts, I finally decided that I did want to play Inquisitor after all.

It's essentially a small-scale D&D type game, but utilising the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

I had a great time constructing my character, but ultimately the GM vetoes my million-tentacled warp-thing that wielded Orks as melee weapons and had a gun that utilised the Lost Primarchs as ammunition.

So there it was. Stuart, James, Foxxy and myself....
