Because she systematically dismantled all British industry on purpose.

Where do you start? Very notable to me is her handling of the miner's strike in the '80s, but above all, her vile and insidious manipulation of the public's general ignorance and stupidity. She reognised her unpopularity, and so played the patriotic card with all that shit about the Falklands. Basically, many people were killed for the sake of her reputation, under the guise of it being for the sake of the British (she deliberately initiated that conflict - after saying that any ship within a certain radius would be sunk, she allowed a ship out of and heading away from that limit to be attacked). I'd go into more detail about various things, but quite frankly, I'll be too busy drinking myself silly the rest of the say, and most probably with my friends later until the early hours of the morning.

I wouldn't mind keeping Cameron and Boris actually, but the others can sod off...but then so can most politicians.

I was actually hoping that Cameron would die along with Thatcher somehow, like the death of an ideology or something. Sadly, Cameron appears to still walk.

To be fair Cameron is very near-centre and he's championed policies very unpopular with some demographics that have been beneficial to the county, e.g. gay marriage.

But at the same time, his attitude towards the public sector is deeply disgusting, his Government is doing all they can to demonise poor people who need benefits (while some of the same politicians who berate those proletarians are guilty of embezzlement) and quite early on, his Government was also responsible for the exponential increase of your university fees and an attempt to privatise (I think "reform" was the euphemism) the NHS. He is a vile human and his actions are irredeemable. I think he might be more dirty a person than even Churchill.

For some reason I thought she was already dead. I know she hasn't been relevant for two decades.

Funny how the bitter ones that everyone hates hang in there the longest, eh?

Well I know nothing about politics nor was I alive during the time she was PM. So I guess I have no feelings towards this.

Never understood why he was the person that was made into legend in our history.

Probably because of his involvement with the war - he'd be a good figure to whip to to get the patriots to stand up and take off their hats while in their mind a Union Jack is overlayed while that shitty national anthem plays.
He was actually not a very nice man - ask Mosaddegh. Also, he would have liked to have had strikers shot. Not an ideal figure, in my opinion. Very much like any other tory.

I agree with you, mate. He used Australians as meat shields at Gallipoli so that British troops could go round the sides and when our ships were annihilated by the Ottomans he was said to have dismissed the whole thing, 'we have more soldiers'. Fuck that.

Outspoken Morrissey tonight blasted Margaret Thatcher as "barbaric" and someone "without an atom of humanity".

The musician has been a long-time critic of the former Prime Minister and aired his views in songs like Margaret On The Guillotine.

Tonight, just hours after her death, he released a strongly-worded statement slamming the former Tory politician.

The former Smiths singer said: "Thatcher is remembered as The Iron Lady only because she possessed completely negative traits such as persistent stubbornness and a determined refusal to listen to others.

"Every move she made was charged by negativity; she destroyed the British manufacturing industry, she hated the miners, she hated the arts, she hated the Irish Freedom Fighters and allowed them to die, she hated the English poor and did nothing at all to help them, she hated Greenpeace and environmental protectionists, she was the only European political leader who opposed a ban on the Ivory Trade, she had no wit and no warmth and even her own Cabinet booted her out."

Morrissey, whose first Smiths single Hand In Glove was released a month before Baroness Thatcher won her second term of office as Prime Minister in 1983, was highly critical of her role in the Falklands War.

He said: "She gave the order to blow up The Belgrano even though it was outside of the Malvinas Exclusion Zone - and was sailing AWAY from the islands.

"When the young Argentinian boys aboard The Belgrano had suffered a most appalling and unjust death, Thatcher gave the thumbs up sign for the British press. Iron? No. Barbaric? Yes.

"She hated feminists even though it was largely due to the progression of the women's movement that the British people allowed themselves to accept that a Prime Minister could actually be female.

"But because of Thatcher, there will never again be another woman in power in British politics, and rather than opening that particular door for other women, she closed it.

Outspoken Morrissey, who recently cancelled a series of shows due to ill health, went on: "Thatcher will only be fondly remembered by sentimentalists who did not suffer under her leadership, but the majority of British working people have forgotten her already, and the people of Argentina will be celebrating her death.

"As a matter of recorded fact, Thatcher was a terror without an atom of humanity," he added.
I agree with every word of this.

That's one of the proudest and most defining moments of our history for some reason. I guess there isn't much else to remember other than the Eureka Stockade and Ned Kelly.
