1955

Posted 01-02-2013 at 03:20 AM by STM
This was one of the best and worst years in recent-ish history. In March you have Claudette Colvin who refused to give her seat up to a white man on the bus. She was dragged from the bus, handcuffed, attacked and taken to the local police station. A good day for African-American civil rights in the USA. Probably a bad day for Ms Colvin.

In April, Churchill resigned from his position as PM due to ill health (as far as I remember) and never returned to politics.

New Years!

Posted 12-31-2012 at 08:29 AM by STM
In an attempt to put offset the recent myriad of crying and pouting in the blogosphere. It is new years. I will get drunk and maybe high. Oh and I'll be damned if I don't enjoy it.

That is all.

Christmas with the Wallaces

Posted 12-26-2012 at 12:52 PM by STM
Seasons greetings!

So Boxing Day draws to a close and with it the end of the Christmas celebrations in the Wallace household. Whilst the cheese and cracker selection will no doubt last for a few more days (along with copious amounts of alcohol and cold meats), festivities are drawing to a close.

Christmas Day was somewhat quieter than normal, I couldn't sleep at all, partly down to it being Christmas Eve, partly because I was uncomfortable and partly because my cat...

Tall and Taller Studios

Whag'warn!

Just a little shout out and some shameless self-promotion here. Recently, a friend and I set up 'Tall and Taller Studios' to make a web-comic series. Our first series is 'Port Rice Avenue', set on a street in fictitious New York, the story follows two protagonists as they got about their lives. It's sort of a comedy really, or it tries to be, it's pretty random as well. If you have a Smackjeeves account, giving our comic a fav would be much appreciated.

Going Back to Church

Posted 11-24-2012 at 06:15 AM by STM
Updated 11-24-2012 at 06:33 AM by STM
Hey folks,

So, on Friday I went back to Church to attend a yearly service that my school/sixth form runs with our Church in London. First, attendance is considered compulsory, regardless of religion or ideology. Before I was agnostic this didn't bother me of course, I was of the opinion that it was important for everyone to go for so many stupid reasons. This year I still wanted to go because it will be the last time I ever attend the school sermon, it's something we've been doing...

Some Things to Note

Posted 11-09-2012 at 07:26 AM by STM
Updated 11-10-2012 at 05:45 AM by STM
Hello everyone,

Some of you may remember in my last blog I posted about a number of developments occurring in my life. If I remember correctly, one of those things was my entrance into university. I sent off my applications two weeks ago and have heard back from three universities, Leicester, Chester and Kent.

So far, three conditional offers, meaning they will let me in on the premise that I get the grades they ask for this academic year in my May exams, AAB, BBC and...

Some Developments in my Life

And now to play us in, the sweet twang of Bo Diddley's guitar.

Hello folks,

So as the title may or may not suggest to you, there have been a few (academic/ life choice) developments over the past few weeks which I supposed were worth explaining.

Firstly, I've submitted my UCAS application form. For those...

A Commentary on my Religious Stance

Posted 10-07-2012 at 08:42 AM by STM
Earlier this year, on Saturday 28th January - I believe whilst having dinner at a restaurant - I renounced my unswerving faith in God and with it my ties to Catholicism and Christianity. It has been over eight months since that day and I have decided to finally reflect upon the topic in a blog here. I'm not sure as to whether this will be particularly interesting to anyone here, however I am finding it - for want of a better word - therapeutic, to provide a written manifestation of my feelings on...

Eurogamer and MudoCon

Posted 09-30-2012 at 01:19 PM by STM
This is basically just me bragging about going to MudoCon. I now have photographic evidence of being in the same vicinity as MM, Crashpunk, Lorne Lanning and of course, Wil. Not to mention Tda, Glitch and Gilray who answered one of my questions. =D

It was so amazing to see the franchise in such good hands. Also...merchandise. I now have Lanning's autograph and unseen Oddworld movie concept art. Whooo!

It was amazing, MudoCon was so much more exciting for me than Eurogamer....

Skydiver leaps towards the Earth

Posted 09-27-2012 at 06:46 AM by STM
:
Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner makes his final preparations for a record-breaking skydive from 23 miles above the planet. Baumgartner will take off in an adapted weather balloon and fly to the edge of space before jumping from his capsule. Flying faster than the speed of sound, he aims to break the 52-year-old height record set by Joe Kittinger
-The Guardian

So this will be a massive feat of the human body, Baumgartner will experience hitting the sound barrier with no...
