The Deadest?

Forums are on the way out! It's all about the Youtubes and the ipads with the kids these days.

I wouldnt know. The place always seems pretty chill.

This place has been dead for a few years now honestly. Still. That doesn't stop me checking it everyday.

I've said it time and time again, I'd love to see this place more active...

This has been my thought lately.

Strangely, we've actually had a fair few new member sign up in the last week or so. I just wish some of 'em would post.

I know starwin signed up, but I doubt hell post much.

How can you possibly feel bad about posting something stupid after reading what everyone else posts?

To be honest some advertising would be good for the place. I was thinking about posting a blog to that effect, to see if we could all chip in.

Then I realised I don't give two shits about new members any more, I just don't want to loose touch with the guys that are still here.

I've noticed that too. Are you sure that they aren't just all (or mostly) bots though?

A very large percentage of the bots get autoblocked. And almost all of the rest get caught by my manual filtering. These showed all indications of being real people. Also, bots tend to get spamming straight away.

I honestly think it's just the forum doesn't seem very welcoming. Or it doesn't feel like you can just drop in because of all these regulars (although that might be a problem with forums in general). Like you don't want to start intruding in this close knit club or anything.

Yeah, it might be that people are registering because they might make use of the site in the future, unlike me who registered the day I wanted to post.
On the topic of not welcoming, if mine was any indication some people may be put off.

I've definitely seen the forum less dead than this, but I think we've had worse periods. It will pass, and hopefully NNT PC will bring some new faces.

I still do that. When I'm using a computer, that is. Which is far too often...

I also feel like threads like these are at least partly to blame for our lack of new friends.

We are pretty hostile towards newcomers, whether we intend to be or not.

Perhaps instead of being hostile to newbies, we should try being welcoming. Really, really welcoming. Creepily so.

What I've been thinking about lately in relation to OWF is how newcomers to our namesake franchise generally feel when they search for a community and find a bunch of weirdos in drag talking about poop and how little the series means to them.

There should be a subforum just for the old guard. By which I mean a heavily quarantined prison designed to keep our taint sealed away.
