Clearing the Loft

Posted 01-28-2011 at 07:28 AM by OddjobAbe
I've being clearing out my loft today. I always have good fun doing so, because I always come across something that I forgot about. A couple of years ago, I found a glove puppet I was given when I was a small child, and last year, I came across a Bob Dylan LP that my Dad gave me about twenty years ago. This year, I found a collection of Beatrix Potter stories that I was given to by my mother when I was about five (which is very convenient, because my cousin's boy, who is about the same age as I was, needs something to read, so I'm going to print off for him Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck). I also found a bunch of puzzles with a lot of pieces missing, which is very irritating, but I have found my old copy of Chariots of the Gods, which is great news.

And still have a cold. I'll never get shut of it. My cough has worsened, much to the vexation of anyone within ten feet of me.

i hate going in our loft. we have to use an old ladder that sways once you're 3 steps onto it, and pretty much have to leap into the loft seeing as it isn't quite tall enough.

i have a lot of old things i'd like to look at again, but there isn't a light up there and there's fibreglass insulation fucking everywhere. last time i went up there i singed my eyebrows seeing as i was using a lighter on high flame to see, and then twisted my knee while getting out. that fucking hurt.

My brother once completely lost his eyebrows to a flame. God knows how. I had a right laugh at him until they grew back.

We just have polyurethane foam insulation, so I don't have any problems like that, and the light switch is on a beam directly above your head as you climb in, so you can just reach slightly and turn it on. It's great.

I used to hate my loft. Now I live in it.

Funny how things turn out.

Lucky. I always wanted to have my room in the loft, the amount of room was twice that of my current one.

Alas, too much dust.

Not to mention the possibility of a certain eight-legged creature that tends to prowl in such areas.

No, spiders.

If OANST prowled in my loft, I'd let him stay. His extreme criticism on female visitors would be very welcome.
