Snake Davis

Posted 05-03-2008 at 11:58 AM by OddjobAbe
Just yesterday, me and the wife went to see Snake Davis perform live in Holmfirth. Fantastic saxophonist. Just amazing to see live. His bass player is just about the best their is. Some very difficult bass parts in those songs, and his improvisational skills are excellent. Same goes for the keyboard player. His improvisations really stood out. So did Snake's. I can't really say anything bad about the drummer, as I never properly learnt the drums, so to me he just sounded like any other drummer....

As the story unfolds...

Posted 04-27-2008 at 05:24 AM by OddjobAbe
There's nothing more boring than talking about your own dreams, but I've never been a very interesting person.

This is a very rare case where the dream ties in with reality. My wife demolished my bar (in my dream). There's the dream part over with.

MY wife plans to demolish my bar (in reality). She won't succeed. She doesn't know that I put her money towards half of it, and if when she demands it back, she won't get it back, as she's very fussy about her money and would...

Drink

Posted 04-24-2008 at 02:37 AM by OddjobAbe
Just got a constructon job done in my house. If you're easily bored, either read the summary at the bottom or hit that back button. I'm going to brag about my bar. Either like it or lump it.

I have finally, after all these years, managed to get a bar built in my house. It's fantastic. I stocked up on cocktails and martinis and store them on a shelf behind the bar which is covered by a red curtain. I also put my vinyl next to it, so I can listen to music while I drink. It's like being...

And Then we were Blessed with ZDaemon

Posted 04-20-2008 at 06:40 AM by OddjobAbe
Some of you may know that I very much enjoy playing Doom. None of you know that I contributed to the clogging of the networks when Doom was first released.

Anyway, recently, I have discovered the source port ZDaemon that was made for the sole reason of multiplayer games. Fortunately, I am actually able to get games on this unlike with Skulltag.

Should anyone here have ZDaemon and fancy a game, my username is Sambeckett94.

If anyone is curious, the '94' signifies...

The Fuzz and the .avi File

Posted 04-17-2008 at 09:51 PM by OddjobAbe
Well, my brother is free to do what he wants without worrying about the coppers. He found that .avi file while the police were here, and they've let him off.

In other news, I got a Charlie Parker CD that was meant to be a tenner for two pounds, due to the fact that it came up as £1.99 onthe till.

My days, my deary days...

As yuo may know, I have far stricter morals than my brother. For one, I don't download pornography.

Anyway, the poor git accidentally downloaded paedophilia, and now he's in trouble with the police, so I have to try and help him. God knows how.

He may be a bit of a Glen Quagmire, but he's certainly not a paedophile. According to him, the file name lead him to believe that he was downloading a deep-throating video. Immoral, yes. Idiotic, yes.
Legal, yes. A movie that...

There are one million stories in the naked city. Here is one of them.

Posted 11-14-2007 at 08:35 AM by OddjobAbe
Whilst trying to understand whatever the hell my little nephew was babbling on about, I suddenly had the urge to buy a bottle of brandy and watch Rab C Nesbitt, but, a strange and unexpected event turned up - someone dressed as the Grim Reaper knocked at the door and threatened to invade the house and take my money. I straight away hit him over the head with a baseball bat (it was on the side of the kitchen unit which is right next to the door - how convenient!). Unfortunately, the 'intruder' turned...

And Then We Were Blessed with Doom

Posted 11-02-2007 at 01:43 PM by OddjobAbe
If you're religious, you may say that Doom, DOOM, DooM (whatever you want to call it) is a sign that God wants us to be happy.

If you're not religious, you're more likely to just say, 'Doom is fucking awesome'.

I got playing the ol' 90's PC version of Doom again the other day, and I have to say, I pretty much enjoyed the whole damn thing. It's now I appreciate it, as without Doom, there'd be no Halo or anything like that today. It would be unfair to say that Doom was the...

Thank C++ Programming For Emulators

Posted 09-30-2007 at 06:01 AM by OddjobAbe
Not what you'd call very exciting news, but I am now able to take screenshots of my PSX games through my new emulator. I have not been on Oddworld for a long time now, so should I require help, I can take screenshots to give a far better idea of what I'm getting at.

Not a very inventive post, but, I'm afraid this is all the 'real' news I have for now. Everything else's been pretty normal. Anyways, I do hope you are all having a nice time.

God Bless Balanced Days

Posted 09-12-2007 at 07:10 AM by OddjobAbe
I feel this 'blogging' business is a good way to tell you what's going on in my life so you understand what my absences are for, and why sometimes I do things far later than I had said.
I'll begin by explaining today's happenings:

Today is what I would call a 'balanced day' - that means I had an equal amount of + (positive things) in my life than - (negative things).
I went to work at about eight. I was quite happy - was having a shorter day today than usual at work. Things...
