My vegan protein mix tastes like cake when I mix it with soya.

Basicallyyyy...One of my friends is ill, stomach cancer, and I'd like some information on which countries gastrectomies (Stomach removal surgery) are held. It sounds a bit over the top, but its actually possible, the digestion can be handled in the small intestine (Though apparently it means no dairy). I want him to get the surgery, but he seems avoidant about it or doesn't think its possible (Yeah, I know I can't force him) So...

Anyone know more about it than I do?
