The official launch of my Unity3D game about Alan Turing is today. We had a private viewing yesterday, of which the turnout was fantastic. My twitter messages have been retweeted by @SarahBrownUK and @AlanTuringYear which is also excellent news. Thanks to everyone for supporting my games and Oddworld related materials, it really means a lot. Thanks guys!

1987

Posted 01-01-2013 at 11:51 AM by AlexFili
For me, 1987 is an incredible year. Firstly it was the year I was born. Secondly all these amazing things came out:

Good Morning Vietnam
The Secret of My Success
Lethal Weapon
Predator (one of my favourite films ever)
Robocop

There are also a very large amount of great games and albums released during that year too, too many to count!

I definitely get a little happier everytime I hear "1987". Interesting fact, 2013 is the first...

Black Ops 2 buyers get Mass Effect 2 by mistake

Posted 11-13-2012 at 09:06 AM by AlexFili
Thought this was a funny little mix-up.

Gamers on the Steam community forums, Reddit and the Call of Duty forums are reporting that when they try to install disc 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, they instead get Mass Effect 2. So that’s what Treyarch meant when they said they were adding moral choices to the campaign.

Internet adverts that never stream properly

Posted 09-17-2012 at 11:45 PM by AlexFili
Ugh. What is the point of adverts on the internet if they don't stream at the right speed. It's especially worse on youtube, since at least the actual videos have quality settings and you can pause them... But you can't do that with adverts! It annoys me a lot. Just let me buffer, damnit!

Beware of sinking money into online social games

Posted 09-05-2012 at 12:42 AM by AlexFili
I've now seen two Facebook games close after an arbitrary period of time. Plants Vs Aliens and Lucky Train. The first was a rip-off of Plants vs Zombies which is fair enough, but the other game was still making money and was otherwise being casually used by thousands of people. What's common in both is that neither bothered to inform their userbase in advance of the closure, and neither offered to refund customers.

While it's all well and good paying for virtual services, be aware...

Anyone have any garden parties? Our neighbourhood did. Pizza, cola, free burgers

The concert was pretty good too. Great performances from Paul McCartney and Tom Jones.

Edit: Sorry for the weird double post. Must have been a browser glitch

It's flipping hot out there

Posted 05-26-2012 at 01:41 AM by AlexFili
Seriously, hot hot hot hot hot.
Reminds me of my trip to California last summer. Ah, memories.

Just off to the Lake District in a while for a university study trip. Taking videocameras, laptops etc. It's going to be a three day blogathon

I recommend several things:
Angry Video Game Nerd clips on Youtube
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Lego Rock Band
The Dark Tower Vol 5

That is all. Peace!
