Well today ended up being a bit of a joke... I tried to get to Malbork from Gdansk Oliwa on the train but we had to pay a fine just because my student ID card was from the UK and not Poland. Why does it matter WHERE I studied? We weren't given that information at the kiosk.
Not only that but we ended up being on the wrong platform, and of course... the train just pulled away straight away, despite the fact that they should be aware that there are people who bought their ticket at Gdansk Oliwa and were trying to get on. This happened to other people as well. (At other stations the train stops for 5-15 minutes so why exactly they wanted to leave so fast I have no idea)
It just gets even crazier when we get to Malbork Castle, pay for our entry and audioguides and then we are asked for a passport to deposit so that we can get our audiobook and then give it back later. Fine, but we didn't have any of those kind of documents, again we weren't informed this at the kiosk so we missed out on valuable information about the castle. This castle only has one entrance which is clearly visible from the kiosk, it's not like we could just take the audioguides and run away.

Finally on our train back, four drunk men barged in and caused a ruckus. They were disturbing passengers, stealing belongings and generally being anti-social. The ticket inspector tells them to get off the train but they decline. Then at the next station some station attendents in luminous jackets escort them to the platform where they...
... chat with them for a few minutes and let them back on.
Regardless of the fact that they are a danger to the public and could still cause trouble and they don't even have a valid ticket. Thankfully the drunks started 'boxing' so they were escorted off at the next station. Luckily I got home safe and sound, so all's well that ends well.
Needless to say I won't be going back to Malbork for a long time!
