Ragtime Makes Me Very Happy

Had a nice trip to Leeds on the train yesterday. I bought several CDs, including a Scott Joplin compilation that had many recordings that I have never heard on it (it had a very interesting version of Pineapple Rag on it, which was extended by about two minutes, and the left hand part on the strain that it usually ends on was altered to make more of an "oom-pah" sound. It was also raised a bit in pitch, but that could have just been the recording).
I also bought a Zappa compilation that I didn't know existed (Cheap Thrills - quite a common one, I hear), a Cannonball Adderly CD and CD on which Art Tatum and Ben Webster collaborate.

I also passed several interesting trains, but I wasn't particularly interested at the time. My brother, however, was.

I'm 13 and I like this style. I'm also a Kinks, Beatles, Bowie fan. I go back a fair way further, though. Mozart, Devienne, Bohem, Handel, Tchaikovsky etc...

I have odd tastes, though (for my age, that is. I don't think I like wired music)

I generally hate all new music, and remain cynical until further notice. Instead I prefer to go back.

that sounds like you had a decent time. especially going by train; public transport may not be at its most efficient, but the things you see around you are still a laugh.

also did you take note of the dynamometer car that recorded the Mallard's speed of 125.88mph?

I wouldn't forget that.

Kinks, Beatles,
I approve of this. Especially The Kinks. I love them.

That's not the point. The point is that he's exactly 39.

I love the 80s but have always been a lover of 1950s doo wop and other vocal harmonies.
