I live in America WHERE IT IS ILLEGAL TO REGULATE THE AMOUNT OF USE THAT I GET OUT OF INTERNET!

Greatest trade off for universal health care ever.

Holy Somalians, I didn't even know that was possible BUT...

On a similar note I remember back when I hosted OWF on my webserver- the connection got cut simply because of the amount of data being transferred back and forth and the number of users at the time... and that was a COMMERCIAL ADSL line!

Unfortunately and ironically I was unofficially 'banned' from OWF at the time so I never had conscience to go back and check to see if it was still online.

Apparently the connection exceeded some kind of 'allowable gigabytes' per month and uploads were all terminated.

Actually, OANST, Comcast and some other companies are going to put down a limit pretty soon. Verizon is awesome though.

Comcast has been told to shut the fuck up and sit down. They were told no. In court.

My Dad was with a shitty company (that I picked for him, admittedly) called PlusNet. PlusNet has been very successful by supplying noobs with Internet incredibly cheaply. However, the real, hidden price for being with PlusNet is their 1GB bandwidth limit (after which everything is intolerably slow—although again admittedly you can buy additional gigabytes) which I would exceed within a couple of days.

The other hidden cost is that they block all torrents and all FTP. I can tell you, when I canceled that account it felt goooooooooooooooood.

I don't know what my allowance is, I'd hate to think. I download that much crap though, so I'm guessing it's either unlimited or at a high number.
