I saw the first showing my city offered, and all in all, I liked the movie as a whole. It was very entertaining and fun.

But, like anyone else, I have some issues:

-It was too violent. I'm not some kind of squeamish pussyfaggot, but it ruined it for me when the big figure has The fat guys arms chopped off. It was unnecessary and over the top. Same with Doc Manhattan blowing people up. "Oh boy, bloody skeletons on the ceiling. Hmph." Granted, there are some actual scenes like that, but it seemed like any part of the book that somebody dies in is RAMPED THE FUCK UP.
-Silk spectre II KILLS A FUCKING GANG MEMBER BY STABBING HIM IN THE NECK AND GETTING HIM SHOT . What the fuck was that, Snyder? The only vigilante (excluding the Comedian and Doc M) who is suggested to kill was Rorschach, it was just...stupid.
-Veidt was in no way charming or interesting as he was in the book. He was this cold fruity fuckhead. Also "Boys" folder. Must investigate further.

However, I loved Harvey's portrayal of Rorschach; it was absolutely fantastic. Same with Silk Spectre and the Comedian.

I'd say 9/10.

Anyone who doesn't think that Billy Cruddup played Doc Manhattan with more grace and complexity than could have possibly been expected is a goddamned fool. I thoroughly enjoyed the film.

That's the thing, I never really thought of him as this sort of monotone emotionless guy.

So while I can agree he did an excellent job, it just wasn't what I interpreted.

But he thinks of himself as monotone and emotionless. Cruddup did a superb job of showing someone who thinks of themselves as above it all but who doesn't want to appear that way and in fact isn't that way. There is real complexity there and the actor captured it beautifully.

How "bad" were the sex scenes?

Sort of the same story as the violence. The Nite Owl/Silk Spectre one in Archie felt kind of drawn out.

I can't wait to see it; I'm about half way through the novel.

I fucking loved it to bits, it was the comic book conversion that all movies should strive for. The acting was fabulous, the set pieces were well paced and the little in jokes were fantastic.

I have rather the same qualms as Kastere about it though, also I thought that young Comedian was very badly done >:, older Comedian was good though.
